The main difference

Pictory is a stock-footage editor with AI on top. It reads your text, picks matching clips from big libraries, and lets you change scenes by changing words. That works well for marketing videos, blog summaries and corporate content, where viewers expect real-world footage.

ContentRoof doesn't use footage at all. It reads each sentence, finds what it's about, and searches about 10,000 open-source drawings by meaning. The lines trace themselves on as the words are spoken. Motion graphics come from the script itself: a globe flies to the places you name, counters count up to big numbers, a chart rises for growth or falls for decline, and dates roll on a clock. When nothing fits, the narration shows as big kinetic text with the video's main subject.

For explainers about abstract ideas (how inflation works, why a star collapses, what a fractal is) stock footage often runs out of honest matches. Drawings and charts don't.

Questions

Does ContentRoof use stock footage like Pictory?

No. ContentRoof illustrates with animated line drawings, 26 hand-made illustrations, maps, counters and charts. If you need real-world footage, Pictory is the better fit.

Is there a watermark?

ContentRoof downloads have no watermark; downloading needs a free Google sign-in. As of October 2026, Pictory's free trial includes Pictory branding.

Can ContentRoof turn a blog post into a video?

Paste the text you want narrated as a script and each paragraph becomes a scene. Pictory can take a URL directly, which is quicker for long articles.

Can I make 16:9 videos for YouTube?

Yes. ContentRoof makes vertical 9:16, 16:9 (narration on the left, animation on the right) and square 1:1 videos, up to 3 minutes long.

Can I use my own numbers in a chart?

Yes. In the data story mode, paste your numbers; bars grow or a line draws as each number is said, and your numbers are used exactly.
