The fastest way: paste your product link
If your product has a page online, choose Product in ContentRoof and paste the link. The page is read in about a second and the script is written only from what it says. The rest of this guide explains what a good product video says and why, so you can check and improve the script. More on turning a product link into a video.
Start with one person, not the product
Before you write a word, picture one real customer. Not "everyone who might buy". One person.
What is bugging them today? Maybe their skin gets dry from shop soap. Maybe they keep forgetting to drink water. Maybe their shop runs out of stock and they only notice when a customer asks.
That small, everyday problem is the first thing your video says. When people hear their own problem in the first two seconds, they stop scrolling, because the video is suddenly about them.
So finish this sentence before you begin: "This video is for someone who..."
The shape that works
Most good product videos follow the same simple path. You don't need to be clever, just clear.
| Time | Part | What you say |
|---|---|---|
| 0 to 3 s | The problem | The moment your customer recognises: "Shop soap leaves your skin tight and dry?" |
| 3 to 10 s | The answer | What your product is, in one plain sentence |
| 10 to 35 s | Two or three benefits | One benefit per scene, each with something to see |
| 35 to 45 s | How it works or how to get it | Steps, or what happens after they order |
| Last 5 s | One clear next step | "Order on WhatsApp", "Visit our site", "20% off this week" |
Thirty to sixty seconds is plenty. If you have more to say, make a second video instead of a longer one.
Benefits, not features
A feature is what the product has. A benefit is what it does for the person. People buy benefits.
| Feature | Benefit |
|---|---|
| Made with olive oil | Your skin feels soft, not tight, after washing |
| Reminder light in the cap | You drink enough water without thinking about it |
| Sends a low-stock alert | You never lose a sale because a shelf was empty |
Keep the feature, but say the benefit first. "Your skin stays soft, because it's made with olive oil."
Write it the way you talk
Read your script out loud. If you would never say a sentence to a friend, rewrite it.
- Short sentences. One idea each.
- Say "you". "You'll notice the difference in a week" beats "Customers report improvements".
- Be specific. "Ships in 2 days" is stronger than "fast delivery".
- Only promise what's true. No "the greatest ever", no made-up numbers. Honest claims build trust, and trust sells.
- One call to action. Not "follow, like, visit, call and share". Pick the one that matters most.
Making it in ContentRoof
You can do all of this by hand, but the Product mode does most of the work for you.
- On the home page, pick Product and describe what you sell: what it is, who it's for, why it's better, and your offer and website or WhatsApp number.
- The AI writes the script in the shape above: problem first, then benefits, then your call to action instead of "Follow". It only claims what you told it, so give it the facts you want said.
- Read the script. Change any word you like; it's just text. The preview updates as you type and the voice records itself a moment later.
- Each idea gets an animated drawing that matches its words, and every word appears as a caption, so the video works with the sound off.
Make it look like you
Open the Brand kit once and every new video carries it:
- Your logo on screen.
- Your colours for the background and highlights.
- Your handle, so people can find you.
- Your call to action on the final button, like "Order on WhatsApp" or "Visit softleaf.example".
Pick a template that suits what you sell. Clean feels calm and premium, Pop feels bright and playful, Sketch feels handmade.
Show the real thing too
The drawings explain the idea. Customers also want to see the actual product. Film a 15 second clip on your phone: unboxing it, using it, a close-up. Then use Caption my video to add word-by-word captions and small animated drawings on top.
A good pair to post: the explainer one day, the real clip the next.
A script you can copy
Change the product, the details and the call to action, and it's yours.

Pick the right shape for each place
| Where | Shape | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Reels, TikTok, Shorts, Status | Vertical 9:16 | Fills the phone screen |
| Facebook and Instagram feed | Square 1:1 | Takes up more of the feed than wide video |
| YouTube, your website | Wide 16:9 | Fits players and landing pages |
| Instagram and LinkedIn carousel | 4:5 slides | People swipe through at their own pace |
You can make all of them from the same script. Change the format, export again, done.
Little things that help a lot
- Show the price or the offer on screen. A counter scene makes a discount hard to miss.
- Post the same video in your customers' languages. An Urdu, Hindi or Arabic version often reaches people the English one never will.
- Make three versions of the hook and see which one people watch longest. Keep the winner.
- Reply to every comment in the first hour. It tells the app your video is worth showing to more people.
Mistakes to avoid
- Starting with your company name or logo. Start with the customer's problem.
- Listing every feature. Two or three benefits is enough.
- A call to action they can't act on. Make sure the link, number or offer is real and working.
- Music so loud the words get lost. Calm music under a clear voice wins.
That's it. One customer, one problem, a few honest benefits, one next step. Make your first one today, then make it better tomorrow.
How it works
- Describe your productPick Product mode on the home page and write what you sell, who it helps, why it's better, and your offer and contact.
- Check the scriptRead it out loud and change anything that doesn't sound like you. It starts with the customer's problem and ends with your call to action.
- Add your brandSet your logo, colours, handle and call to action in the Brand kit so every video carries them.
- Watch the previewThe voice, drawings and captions update as you edit. Fix anything that feels slow or unclear.
- Export and postExport in vertical for Reels, TikTok and Shorts, square for the feed, or wide for YouTube, and post it where your customers are.
Questions
How long should a product video be?
Thirty to sixty seconds is enough for one product and one offer. If you have more to say, make a second video rather than a longer one.
Will the AI make claims about my product that aren't true?
The Product mode is told to use only what you write in your description. Still, read the script before you export, and remove anything you can't stand behind.
Can I show photos of my real product?
The narrated video uses animated drawings. To show the real product, film a short clip on your phone and add captions and drawings to it with Caption my video, then post both.
Can I make the same video in other languages?
Yes. Pick the language when you create the video. It works in English, Urdu, Hindi, Arabic, Spanish, French, Portuguese, German, Italian and Russian, each with its own voice and captions.
