A young man checks into an empty hotel at midnight. The receptionist hands him a key and whispers, Room 9.
Add one rule: do not open the door if someone knocks three times.
At 3:00 AM, silence breaks. Three slow knocks echo against the wood.
He peers through the peephole. The hallway is dark and empty.
His phone rings. A terrified voice screams, Don't trust the receptionist. He is not real.
Panic spikes. He sprints downstairs to confront the man who gave him the key.
The desk is vacant. No staff. Just dust and shadows.
Behind the counter, he finds an old polaroid. The receptionist stands next to a man who looks exactly like him.
The back reads, October 1998. The night the receptionist disappeared.
The elevator doors slide open. The receptionist steps out, covered in fine gray dust.
He holds the same key. You finally came back, he says with a chilling smile.
He runs for the exit. But outside is not the street. It is the same hotel hallway.
He turns around. Room 9 stands before him. The handle turns slowly. The door creaks open.
Inside the room, he sees himself sleeping peacefully in the bed.
A newspaper from 28 years ago confirms the receptionist vanished from this hotel.
The receptionist whispers, You have been checking into this room every night since then.
